As a matter of fact, we are rooted in family -- literally. Two brothers, mom and $600 turned into the recipe for the world's largest pizza company in 1958, when a family friend with the idea of opening a pizza parlor approached the two college-age brothers in Kansas. The concept was relatively new at the time and the brothers quickly saw the potential of this new enterprise. Borrowing $600 from their mother, they purchased second-hand equipment and rented a small building on a busy intersection in Wichita, Kansas. The result of their efforts was the first Pizza Hut and the foundation for what would become the largest and most successful pizza restaurant in the world.
We make pizza easy.
The food service industry today is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, with the pizza segment a $37 billion business leading the way. Beginning with the original thin crust pizza first served in 1958, Pizza Hut continues to refine our product and develop new products to suit our customer's tastes.
Today, millions around the world love our four core pizzas: Pan Pizza, Thin 'N Crispy®, Hand-Tossed Style and Stuffed Crust.
Franchising with Pizza Hut and Yum! Brands
This is your opportunity to invest in Pizza Hut and Yum! Brands and experience the power of big, category-leading brands!
We believe there has never been a more exciting time to be part of Pizza Hut and Yum! Brands! When we created Yum! Brands, we had the privilege of possessing a heritage of success established by the founders of KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Long John Silver's and A&W All American Food. Their leadership and innovation helped launch the quick service restaurant industry and the carryout and delivery pizza business. The brands they created enjoy worldwide recognition and popularity. Yum! Brands is the biggest restaurant company in the world in terms of system units and we are the worldwide leader in most of our product categories.
Multibrand® with Big Brands!
Multibranding gives you the opportunity to operate two brands in one location. Yum! believes multibranding can bring great excitement to the future of the pizza delivery business. Offering more than one brand allows you to "eliminate the veto vote" and bring additional excitement to your delivery offering. The perfect complement to great tasting pizza -- chicken wings!
Pizza Hut/WingStreet is a new concept designed to give you great tasting pizza and wings delivered from the same location. If your customers crave both flavor and variety, they'll love our WingStreet™ Wings. With all the options our menu is sure to please everyone's tastes anytime, anywhere or for any occasion. Choose from 8 intense flavors available on your favorite type of wing -- bone-in, bone-out, and traditional varieties.
With two complementary brands and delivery that makes them only a call away, Pizza Hut/WingStreet is a great development option for you to consider.
Do you have what it takes? Commitment. Capital. Capability.
Yum! is looking for energetic new franchisees to bring our great brands to more customers. We're looking for entrepreneurs with the aptitude to build a business. In fact, we're looking for a 3 store commitment over your first 2 years in business. If you are one of these people, take a look at the following criteria to see if Yum! is right for you:
Do you have a passion for operations?
Are you committed to building people capability?
Do you have the capital to grow?
If you are interested, we would love to talk with you. A Pizza Hut or Yum! Brands franchise may just represent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!(From Franchisegator)

I know this is old, but nice post. I'd like to be self-employed, and I've been thinking about running my own business soon. I'll have to keep this post in mind. Instead of starting one from scratch, I've also been thinking about buying a business instead of starting one from scratch, even if it isn't home-based or a franchise. Any suggestions? Advice? Thanks.
@Alice -- I suggest checking out some other online resources. There's one called BizTrader.com, which is an online global marketplace where you can buy or sell a business, since you're interested in that. It also has other advice, and you can use it to find a lender, broker, accountant, etc.
You can also check out local small business groups. They can be very helpful, and it's always good to network.
Good luck!
Good Post! Very informative, glad that you are going to continue writing things like this!
